“Friends are the family that we choose for ourselves.”
We all have been in this situation, when just before an exam our best friend turns into our savior tutor — They’ve always got us covered, right from giving any kind of relationship advice to helping us make key life decisions. It just proves how valuable close friends are to get through life.
Whether its about your career, job, investment, or any key decision, there is always a lot to learn from your peers. We also in a way relate the most to our friends as we take the same journey of exploring, learning, growing and most importantly having fun together.
According to research, peer-to-peer learning is the most effective method of knowledge transfer. Our life skills, decision making, critical thinking, emotional intelligence, situation management are all majorly influenced by our peers. This happens throughout our life right from kindergarten to adulthood. And perhaps that’s why our parents always wanted us to have good company.
The people we surround ourselves with are the biggest influence on our behavior, attitudes and results. We become an aggregate of people who we hang around with throughout our life. Who you are around — what they’ve got you thinking, saying, doing and becoming — sets the course of your life.
At Tomo, we took this insight very seriously, and strongly believe in peer to peer learning is 100x more important than any teacher or moderator. We form a network of curious kids, who explore their interests through simulations, games and discussions which teach them decision making skills(mental models) and life skills.
By creating a channel for kids to interact, learn and develop bonds with each other organically we help them in increasing their sense of belonging, boost happiness and improve self confidence.
